My Mantel Has A New Look!

Tags

For those of you who read my blog on a regular basis, you know that I am in the middle of a family room re-do.

It has been a really fun and exciting project for me, and at times frustrating, but the end results are always pleasing to me.

One of the elements in my room that got a new look was my  over-mantel.

My mantel spans over 17 ft and it has an antique over-mantel from the early 1900’s.

This is a collage of the change in process…..

We need to add a bit of height since we took off the embellished top.

We played with several pieces of moldings…..

When I say we, I should be saying Hubby!! I designed it with his help and he did all the cutting, caulking and painting, but I did stand back and give my approval, that counts, right?

Over-mantel with it's new top......

Here it is from all different angles. I am so pleased with the results, and I actually think it looks a bit more elegant like this.

By removing the embellishments it has opened up so many more options for the  sconces, and other elements on the mantel.

You will notice on the left side of the mantel there is a missing sconce…….

Next big decision is lighting!!

I have three choices to choose from.
Come back and see my choices!

EASTER ROOMS

Tags

This time of year we all blog about ideas on how to decorate our Easter tables. I always enjoy post about this subject. I thought I would take it a step further………

……..Since this is a design blog I thought it would be fun to show you rooms that I like to call, “Easter Rooms!”

Years ago a friend was visiting my home and she had her little daughter with her.

Upon leaving the little girl asked her Mom if they could go home and dye Easter eggs.

It was in the Fall so her Mommy told her it was not that time of year, and asked why she thought about dying Easter eggs.

The sweet little girl said because my house looked like an Easter house to her and it made her want to dye eggs.

Of course I took that as a compliment. Out of the mouths of babes, as the saying goes.

What make a house or a room look like an Easter Room?

What are the requirements of an Easter Room? For me, they must make me smile, and have colors that are reminders of SPRING and Easter!!!

I know this will vary among people we all have our memories of what Easter looks like to us.

Let me show you some rooms that have that Eastery Look (I know this is not a real word, but I will be using it throughout this post and I like it as a word, it should be used more often!)

EASTER ROOMS

Pink and yellow!! You can’t get more Eastery than this!

All of the above images make me smile!! How about YOU, did they make you think of Easter? Do you have any rooms in your home that are Eastery Rooms?

The Happiest Flower I Know!

Tags

I dare you to look at a daffodil and not smile! I know I can’t!

Daffodils have to be the happiest flower around. They not only have become one of the symbols that Spring has arrived, but they add a happy feeling to any space they reside.
